That Hatchling-grafittied Nexus door leads to here, and what looks like the outer door of one of the buildings in the Black Mage Village. Another door has been added next to this one to actually get to the inside of the building.

"What books can you read?"

He nods, seeing why this would be a problem. No advice though, he has no idea what a Waltz would like to try.

"Not very many. Ones with bigger letters are harder to find. Why do they make the letters so small? It's stupid."

"To fit as much in the book as they can. They don't want to waste paper." And the letters never seemed small to him.

"But it wastes all the paper if you can't read the book."

"Some people can read the books like that."

There's a grumble from Arashi, who never takes it particularly well when other people can do something he can't. Especially when it's something he can't tell himself that he'll learn to do later.

"I still say the letters are too small."

He tries to switch the topic away from books for a while. "Gardening's boring. Everyone else likes it, but it takes things too long to grow. Months even."

"Maybe..." Almost smiling again~.

He nods. "It doesn't take that much time... all you need to do is water the plants occasionally, don't you?"

"You have to water them, and pull up the weeds, and chase away the rabbits and birds. And Mr. 33 and Mr. 111 won't let me cast Thunder on the stupid rabbits. They wouldn't keep coming back then."

"No, that wouldn't be a good idea." Killing off all the rabbits... poor Arashi!

"Why not? I saw in a book that you can eat rabbits. And chickens." He glances at Mistral, knowing that even the suggestion of hurting one of the chickens would send the other Waltz into a fit... if Mistral wasn't napping. "But the bigger Mages don't like to hurt anything."

"That's why not." They seem to be getting along just fine without eating meat. There's no reason for them to start now.

They eat lots and lots of milk and eggs~!

Arashi grumbles and sighs. "The rabbits won't go past the flowers. Ali gave us seeds for something called Marigolds, and the rabbits don't like them." Which, to Arashi, just means that there's less excuse to even just chase the rabbits, making gardening that much duller.

He wonders if Mistral would mind killing fish. :o

"Is there anything that keeps away birds?"

Arashi shrugs. "I don't know anything. Not that the bigger Mages will let me do." He's pretty sure a few thunder spells would scare them off!

Scarecrows serve a much different purpose in the Black Mage village, and even if the Mages learned about the mixup it would likely make them uncomfortable to put them in the gardens.

Tired again, now, "You could try and find a plant to do that."

He hasn't ever seen that part of the village. Luckily.

Arashi yawns. Kuja's not the only one who's tired! "Maybe. But then there'd be nothing to chase, and that's the only part of gardening that isn't boring."

"Then maybe you shouldn't."

There's only a mumbled answer from Arashi. He's flopped over to join the rest of the napping poggle pile.
